A year ago today I had the privilege of documenting one of the best new year’s eve celebrations to date. It was hosted by two incredible souls that honestly couldn’t be better matched. Melanie is such a beautiful genuine person with the brightest, most contagious smile. Fred is possibly the most romantic guy I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He’s madly in love with Mel and wears his huge heart on his sleeve. I totally dig it! You can feel the love and respect these two have for each other. Whether they’re adventuring outdoors or making a quiet dinner together at home, they always seem to have the best time.
I was so thrilled when Mel asked to chat about documenting their wedding day. Not only a great way to ring in the new year, but there’s nothing I love more than working with a couple with so much positive energy and who are absolutely crazy about each other. I was invited to their home to chat pre wedding details a couple weeks prior to the big day where Fred told me about his carefully crafted surprise proposal in China. Holy smokes you guys. If you know these two and haven’t already heard their proposal story, go ask them now!
Mel and Fred threw a pretty incredible new years eve party after making it official at Fantasy Farm in Toronto. We arrived about an hour before Melanie and Fred’s first look to hang with the ladies while they got all glammed up, and snuck in a few photos outside with their bridal party before heading back inside to warm up. Before making her to the ceremony site, Melanie shared a ridiculously sweet first look with her father before making their way over to the ceremony site. Not a dry eye in the room. Everything on the wedding day just flowed so effortlessly. The speeches were hilarious and heartwarming and everyone partied their little hearts out. The confetti cannon fired at just the right moment creating a perfect burst of colour for the final seconds of the countdown. All the feels as we welcomed 2017. Melanie and Fred, thank you so much for sharing your love story with me. I’ve loved every moment of it and I’m so happy that I was there to document your wedding day. xx
