One King Toronto New Year’s Eve Wedding | Lindsay & Saxon

December 31, 2019

Lindsay and Saxonā€™s One King Toronto New Yearā€™s Eve Wedding was a fairy tale long in the making. They first met at Reesor Park Public School growing up. Saxon was one year older than Lindsay and came to Reesor in Grade 5 at 10 years old. ā€œAt the time I was the only “Lindsay” on the playground and our friends were all quick to point out that if we ever got married my name would be Lindsay Lindsey (ya right!).ā€ When they went off to high school it wasn’t until Lindsay was in Grade 12 that they were in a few of the same classes. They figured out that their parents were neighbours and began walking to and from school together, ā€œand of course I helped him with his homework.ā€ The next year, Saxon accepted an offer to attend Wilfrid Laurier University and Lindsay stayed back to further her studies. ā€œThis is when we took our leap of faith and I went from “the girl next door” to “the girl he saw on weekends IF football accommodatedā€. Of course Lindsay went to Laurier the following year. Throughout the next four years they grew together as a couple reliving the old days by taking the same classes, walking to and from school together and Lindsay cheered Saxon on from the sidelines. After 1 University transfer, 2 degrees and countless memories later, they both moved home to begin their careers, and what they didn’t know at the time, was the rest of their lives together.

In the summer of 2017 Saxon had set up a double date for a Blue Jays game with their friends Jill & Kyle. ā€œI will never forget the moments leading up to the big question. Saxon put on a pair of cargo shorts, which not to knock cargo shorts, are not my favourite. But, he made it clear “it was just a Blue Jays game”, I decided to let it go (and thankfully I did!). We walked to Amsterdam Brewhouse to meet our friends. Just as we arrived, there was a white box on an unoccupied picnic bench to my right. Saxon let me know that it was for me and it had my name on it. Of course I opened the box only to see a letter written hanging from the top and a Blue Jays jersey folded on the bottom. After reading through his heartfelt words I looked up and he was on one knee opening up a pocket of those dreadful cargo shorts to pull out the ring box. This was the best YES I have ever saidā€¦ When not one person answered the phone to share in the happiness, I decided to let it go and enjoy the game. All to my surprise, when we arrived and went to take our seats our entire family and all of our closest friends were there to celebrate with us and surprise me on our recent engagement. Looking back on it now, you could have a million dollars for me and I still wouldnā€™t know who won that game (or even who the Blue Jays faced for that matter).ā€

It was such an honour to capture Lindsay and Saxonā€™s love for each other at their One King Toronto New Yearā€™s Eve Wedding! If you want more romantic high school love stories check out Chelsea & Joshā€™s Ancaster Mill Wedding!
