Waterstone Estate & Farms Wedding | Alison & Mufid

November 27, 2019

Alison and Mufidā€™s Waterstone Estate & Farms wedding was filled with plenty of charm and emotion, from their romantic barn ceremony, to their private exchange of vows in the field. After hearing about their engagement it seems befitting of their love story. ā€œHe booked a surprise trip for us, out to a cabin in the woods out near Port Perry. The first night, after dinner he sneakily set up a camera to record, and he proposed.ā€ These love birds met at respiratory therapy school. Mufid was a year behind Alison so they didn’t really know each other very well until their friends arranged a group trip to Cuba were they hit it off and that was that. When they got back to Toronto they started dating.
Fast forward to a brisk fall day at Waterstone Estate & Farms as they prepared to be married. Alison shared many emotional moments with her grandmother, soon-to-be mother in-law, and a tear-filled first look with her father, all before the ceremony even began. When Alison and Mufid finally stood face to face with each other under a fabric draped alter in the barn, they were surrounded with love from friends and family. They chose to do things their own way, saving their vows for a private moment together out in the field after the ceremony. ā€œMy favourite moment was when Mufid and I said our vows to each otherā€¦ It was a nice, intimate moment, and it felt like we had a chance in a busy day to just appreciate each other, and all that we had accomplished in the past year.ā€œ After their portrait session on the picturesque property of the estate they joined their guests for the reception and ended off the night with a lively dance party.
Like many brides, Alison was surprised by how fast the day went by. ā€œEveryone always says it goes by in the blink of an eye, but you don’t actually know until that day.ā€ She also had some great advice for couples at the beginning stages of planning a wedding. ā€œIt is all really overwhelming in the beginning, especially if you’ve never planned a big event before. Get the big things done first, and make sure you find the time to find the vendors that you are comfortable with. Figure out what is most important for you both, whether it is food, photography, flowers etc., and give a larger portion of your budget to those things.ā€ I couldnā€™t agree more!
Iā€™m so grateful for Alison and Mufidā€™s trust in me to capture their special day at Waterstone Estate & Farms, and I wish them both a lifetime of happiness on their journey together!
